Danny Drinkwater retires from football

Former English midfielder, Danny Drinkwater, has announced his retirement from football at the age of 33.
Drinkwater said he had to retire because he felt frustrated and stuck.
Drinkwater played for Leicester City when they won the Premier League in 2016. He later transferred to Chelsea for £35 million.
Danny Drinkwater left Chelsea in June 2022 after a largely unsuccessful stint and has been out of play since then. Despite his willingness to play, he hasn’t had any opportunities that match his abilities and feels undervalued as a player.
Drinkwater started his career at Manchester United and moved to Leicester in 2012, where he played a significant role in their promotion to the Premier League in 2014 and their league win under Claudio Ranieri in 2016. He was given three caps for England during this time, but he wasn’t selected for the Euro 2016 tournament.
In 2017, Drinkwater moved to Chelsea for £35m but struggled to make an impact and went on loan to Burnley, Aston Villa, Turkish club Kasimpasa, and Reading.
Although Drinkwater had some positive moments at Chelsea, he described his time there as mostly bad.
