Daniel Etim-Effiong Opens Up About Past Womanizing Phase, Calls It a Lesson in Growth

Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong has spoken candidly about a period in his life when he was involved with multiple women, describing it as a phase that taught him valuable lessons about relationships and personal growth.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the actor—who left a career in engineering to pursue acting—admitted he once lived a lifestyle that could be described as womanizing, though he believes it was short-lived.
When asked directly whether he had ever been a womanizer, Etim-Effiong replied with careful reflection: “Maybe there was a time in my life I was. Definitions would differ, but in that definition, maybe there was a period in my life that I explored. So, perhaps.”
Looking back, he described that phase as transformative. “Yes, they were periods of learning for me. If I learned, then they were good periods,” he said, suggesting that the experiences helped shape his current values and approach to marriage.
Etim-Effiong also warned that behaviors developed during such periods can have lasting effects, especially when carried into marriage. “I tell young people it may seem cool to be a player, but habits formed before marriage don’t just disappear.”
He added that entering marriage without addressing unhealthy relationship patterns can lead to instability. “If you’re used to keeping options and walking away easily, that tendency doesn’t vanish just because you say ‘I do,’” he cautioned.
The actor, now known for his strong family values, emphasized the importance of developing emotional discipline before committing to a lifelong relationship.
