Dangote Refinery Reduces Petrol Price to ₦820

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a further reduction in its ex-depot price of petrol from ₦840 to ₦820 per litre, with the new pricing set to take effect from August 15, 2025.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Lagos-based refinery revealed that the price slash is part of a broader initiative aimed at boosting fuel availability, reducing logistics costs, and driving nationwide energy access. As part of the plan, the company has acquired 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers to support the distribution network.
“In addition, the refinery will offer a credit facility to those purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres—allowing them to obtain an additional 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, under bank guarantee,” the statement read.
The company further disclosed that it had invested significantly in the development of CNG infrastructure, including the establishment of daughter booster stations across Nigeria, backed by over 100 CNG tankers to enable smooth product delivery.
“This strategic programme is part of our broader commitment to eliminating logistics costs, enhancing energy efficiency, promoting sustainability and supporting Nigeria’s economic development,” the refinery noted.
It added that the initiative is expected to reactivate dormant fuel stations, drive job creation, boost small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), expand government revenue, and improve fuel access in underserved and rural areas.
“This pioneering effort marks a major milestone in our vision to revolutionise Nigeria’s energy sector,” the statement added.
“Dangote Refinery is dedicated to ensuring that no place is left behind. Our goal is to provide equitable access to affordable fuel for all Nigerians, regardless of location, making energy more accessible and sustainable for everyone, wherever they may be.”
