Creative Industry to get comprehensive data system-NBS

The Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy, Ms Hannatu Musa Musawa has sought the collaboration of the National Bureau of Statistics to establish a robust government-owned data system.
She said the aim is to facilitate the transformation of the nation’s creative landscape.
The Minister at a meeting with the Statistician General of the Federation, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran in Abuja said she sought the expertise of NBS, following the absence of a data system for the sub-sectors under the ministry.
Responding, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran emphasized the significance of generating comprehensive data analysis on the creative industry’s contributions to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
He reiterated that the NBS’s mandate was to generate socio-economic data on a daily basis, starting from policy and decision-making.
Prince Adeniran assured that he would examine the request to ensure the activities of the Ministry of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy are thoroughly captured.
To initiate the process of data collection and analysis in the Art and Culture sector, a steering committee was established led by the Minister and the Permanent Secretary.
Also in the committee are technocrats from the NBS and the Ministry.
