Court Jails Man 21 Years For R*ping 3-Month-Old Baby In Nasarawa

A High Court in Lafia has sentenced 27-year-old Ahmadu Yaro to 21 years imprisonment for r*ping a three-month-old baby in Adogi village, Lafia LGA of Nasarawa State.
Delivering the judgment on Monday, the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Aisha Bashir-Aliyu, described the crime as “barbaric, demonic, and a direct attack on the moral conscience of society,” noting the sentence serves both justice for the victim and a warning to others.
The assault, which occurred in 2020, sparked nationwide outrage and led to a protracted five-year legal battle that culminated in Yaro’s conviction. He is to serve the jail term without an option of fine.
The Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaac Danladi, personally led the prosecution, a move widely praised by legal observers.
Speaking to journalists after the ruling, Danladi said: “This is a strong message that Nasarawa has zero tolerance for sexual violence. Justice has been served.”
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting survivors and holding perpetrators accountable.
Yaro will serve his sentence in a correctional facility in Nasarawa State.
