Court Adjourns Trial of Eezee Tee Over Alleged Forex Violations and Money Laundering

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has adjourned further hearing in the ongoing trial of music executive Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu ThankGod, popularly known as Eezee Tee, to September 26, 2025.
Eezee Tee, a well-known music promoter and former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, is standing trial alongside his company, Eezee Global Concepts Limited, on a seven-count amended charge brought by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The charges centre on alleged foreign exchange infractions and money laundering involving hundreds of thousands of dollars. One of the charges accuses the defendant of engaging in a foreign currency deal without being a licensed dealer approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria, in violation of the Foreign Exchange Monitoring and Miscellaneous (Provisions) Act.
The case was originally filed before Justice Owoeye but was later reassigned to Justice Aneke for continued proceedings.
During Friday’s session, the EFCC, represented by counsel Bilkisu Buhari-Bala, called its first witness, Mohammed Timta.
Lead defence counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, informed the court that both parties were close to reaching a settlement and requested time to conclude discussions. He noted that if talks broke down, the case would proceed to full trial.
In response, Justice Aneke granted the adjournment, setting the next hearing for September 26, 2025.
