Corps Member Renovates Corper’s Lodge in Lagos

A Member of the National Youth Service In Lagos, Corps Member Osifeko (Wahab ) Fatimat Yewande with state code LA/24A/10327 has renovated an abandoned corps members’ lodge in Itamarun community, Epe Local Government Area.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Osifeko explained that her decision to undertake the renovation project was motivated by the challenges corps members often face when employers fail to provide accommodation.
She noted that the lack of proper housing makes settling down difficult for many corps members and expressed her determination to ease this burden for those posted to the area.
The newly renovated four-bedroom corps lodge was officially inaugurated by the first female Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI.
She commended Osifeko for her foresight and dedication to improving the welfare of her fellow corps members. Hon. Animashaun also expressed gratitude to the NYSC for deploying corps members who prioritize community development. She announced her intention to complete a second building to further support corps members in the community.
Representing the NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, the Assistant Director, Corps Discipline and Reward, Mrs. Victoria Akowonlehin, applauded Osifeko’s initiative. She described the project as a testament to Osifeko’s selflessness and encouraged other corps members to emulate her by making meaningful contributions to their host communities.
Mrs. Akowonlehin also praised the corps members serving in Epe Local Government for their hard work and dedication, noting that two ex-corps members from the local government recently earned the prestigious State Honours Award. She further commended Hon. Animashaun for her consistent support of corps members’ welfare and Community Development Service (CDS) initiatives.
The project receive support from prominent individuals and organizations, including Dr. Martins Ositola, Mrs. Stella Oladunjoye, Mr. Williams Odufisan (IT Manager at Chevron), His Royal Majesty Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo (the Alara of Ilara, Eredo, Epe), and Asiwaju Monsuru Agbomeji (CEO of Asiwaju Agbomeji Nigeria Ltd).
The event was attended by dignitaries such as the Vice Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Owolomoshe; APC Local Government Chairman, Hon. Toyin Gbadamosi; Chief of Staff, Hon. Lamidi Taofeeq; Former Leader of the House, Hon. Tunde Ogunkoya, and members of the local government executive council.
