COAS Approves Major Army Shake-Up, Deploys Senior Officers to Strategic Posts

The Nigerian Army has announced a sweeping redeployment of senior officers across its key commands, training institutions, and staff positions.

According to the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, the move was endorsed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, as part of ongoing efforts “to strengthen leadership and reposition the Nigerian Army for greater operational effectiveness.”

Among the new postings at the Army Headquarters are Maj Gen AA Adeyinka, who has been transferred from the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport to the Department of Army Logistics as Chief of Logistics (Army); Maj Gen AA Adekeye, redeployed from the Department of Standard and Evaluation to the Department of Personnel Management as Chief of Personnel Management (Army); and Maj Gen TB Ugiagbe, who moves from the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps to head the Department of Standard and Evaluation as Chief of Standard and Evaluation.

Other key appointments include Maj Gen AA Idris as Chief of Military Intelligence (Army), Maj Gen MO Erebulu as Provost Marshall (Army), Maj Gen EA Anaryu as Corps Commander, Supply and Transport, Maj Gen SA Akesode as Head of the African Union Verification Mission in Tigray, and Maj Gen JE Osifo as Director General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation.

For field commands, new General Officers Commanding (GOCs) were named: Maj Gen ASM Wase now takes charge of 1 Division/Joint Task Force Northwest, while Maj Gen CR Nnebeife assumes leadership of 2 Division/Sector 3 Joint Task Force. Several training institutions and brigades also received new Commandants and Commanders under the reshuffle.

Lieutenant General Oluyede urged the newly appointed officers to “redouble their efforts and commitment to duty in ensuring the sustenance of the ongoing onslaught against terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security” as they take up their assignments.
