Background: The Proof of Address System is a policy that seeks to harmonize the address database and post-code system to form a comprehensive national addressing system and deploy the latest technology, particularly geo-locating, to locate the physical addresses of Nigerians captured in the project.
When the initiative is fully implemented across the country, law enforcement agencies will have a robust database of verifiable addresses of Nigerians to enable them to track and mitigate criminal activities and social vices.
The initiative will also bring development to the LGAs in allocating resources and implementing policies, as well as reducing risk in lending, delivery services, and commerce.
Through this exercise, each resident will be given the proof of address certificate.
Verification: Asiwaju Media conducted a research exercise to verify the authenticity of the claim.
