Cable Vandals Nabbed by Nigerian Hunters in Okpuitumo, Handed Over to Police

Operatives of the Nigerian Hunter and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), Ndufu Ikwo DC Unit Command, have arrested three suspects caught vandalizing electricity cables in Ngamgbo Okpata, Uduku Ettam, Okpuitumo, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The operation, which took place on the night of Monday, June 16, 2025, at around 8:30 p.m., was led by Seagent Okeowata Monday Jeremiah, popularly known as Bishop. The suspects were apprehended while cutting and carting away public electricity wires.
The suspects have been identified as Emmanuel Joseph, Onuabuchi Clement, and Azubuike Onwoshi — a scrap dealer from Amuzu in Ezza South Local Government Area. Azubuike, who was first arrested, confessed during preliminary questioning that he purchased the stolen wires from Emmanuel Joseph. His confession led to the arrest of the other two accomplices.
Confirming the development to Asiwaju Media, Bishop stated that the suspects were immediately handed over to the Nigeria Police at the Ikwo Divisional Headquarters. From there, they were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Abakaliki for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Divisional Forest Officer for Ikwo, Dso Nwafor Felix Mgbebu, was fully aware of the operation and has been in constant communication with the police authorities throughout the process, ensuring that due procedure was followed.
Residents are being urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity in their surroundings.
