Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), accused the Federal Government of planning to rig the 2027 general election.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Galadima warned that the NNPP would “teach the government a lesson” at the polls.

“What is going on is very easy. What this government is planning is to rig the election in 2027,” he said.

When asked how he was aware of the alleged plot, Galadima said, “From their antics, they say it. When they go to a governor to ask him to decamp, they threaten that if you don’t decamp, we will take away your power—not that we will get you voted out. That’s what they do, and they don’t understand.”

Galadima further argued that the Federal Government faces little criticism because “there are no real politicians in the country.” He described Nigerian politics as rife with opportunists, noting that despite his efforts, he has never held elective office, being labelled a “bad politician” in the current political environment.

On the recently concluded by-elections across 13 states, Galadima accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of overseeing illegal processes.

“All of them were conducted illegally by INEC,” he said. “When a vacancy occurs, INEC is obligated to conduct by-elections within three months. Some of these by-elections were conducted two years later.”
