Borno Govt approves N400m for 102 medical students fees

The Borno state government has approved over 400 million naira for the payment of registration fees for 102 medical students.
At a media briefing in Maiduguri, Executive Secretary state Scholarship Board Malam Bala Isa said, the amount covers registration fees for ninty three students admitted into school of Nursing, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and nineteen medical students who recently secured admission at Suez University in Egypt.
He explained that Borno state government will sponsor all the 102 students throughout the duration of their programmes.
According to the Executive Secretary, the Initiative will ensure that more medical professionals are trained thereby strengthening primary healthcare services at the rural communities.
“The Borno state Governor has approved the release of 400,506,140 for payment of total registration fees for 93 Borno indigenes admitted to the UMTH school of Nursing and registration of 19 medical students at Suez University in Egypt ” Bala said.
One of the beneficiaries, Abdulaziz Mohammed, thanked the state government for the scholarship, noting that it has brought huge relief to his parent.
