Body Of Missing Lagos Banker Found In Yaba Morgue With Machete Wounds

Days after a Lagos banker, Osemudiamen Idemudia, was declared missing, his body has been found in a morgue in the Yaba area of the state.
Punch Metro reports that the 26-year-old banker, who worked in the Point-of-Sale department of a commercial bank in Ikota, was last seen on the evening of May 9 around the CMS area.
According to a relative, identified simply as Segun, the family discovered the corpse on Sunday while searching hospitals and morgues across the state.
“We have found Osemudiamen’s body. He was murdered. We found the body on Sunday in a morgue at Yaba with machete cuts on his head, face, and legs. I’m so sad,” Segun said.
He added that the police were said to have deposited the corpse at the morgue, but attempts to get details about how or where the body was recovered were unsuccessful. “The staff members of the morgue claimed the body was brought in by the police, but they couldn’t say where it was found. They didn’t even have the identities of the officers who brought it. That made the discovery more complicated,” he added.
The family has since buried the deceased.
Narrating events leading to his disappearance, Osemudiamen’s father, Julius, said his son left the office on May 9 with a colleague for a scheduled meeting with a senior staff member at the bank’s headquarters in CMS. However, upon arrival, they were informed that the meeting had been postponed until Monday.
After the pair parted ways, Osemudiamen was never seen again.
“He resumed work in Ikota that Friday, and after work, left for CMS with a colleague. The official they were meant to see later called to postpone. At CMS, they parted ways. Osemudiamen was supposed to head to Iyana Ipaja and then to Igando. But when it got late and we didn’t hear from him, we got worried. After 24 hours of silence, we raised an alarm,” Julius said.
The incident was reported at the Igando Police Station near the Akesan area, where the late banker lived.
Efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, were unsuccessful. Calls to his phone went unanswered, and a text message sent to him was not replied to as of the time of filing this report.
