Blessing CEO Alleges IVD Held Without Charges After Airport Arrest Over Qatar Trip

Social media personality and relationship therapist, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has spoken out strongly against what she describes as the unlawful arrest and continued intimidation of her fiancé, popular Lagos auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, known as IVD.

Her reaction follows a Naija News Today report which revealed that IVD was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Qatar for a private wedding ceremony with Blessing CEO. According to the report, he was taken into custody by operatives believed to be acting on orders from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions, despite not being under any publicly known travel restriction.

In a public statement shared across her social media pages, Blessing CEO insisted there was no legal justification for the arrest, asserting that IVD has never been placed under a travel ban by the court. She explained that the passport submitted during earlier stages of the legal process was missing and that a new one was obtained only two years into the ongoing case.

“IVD has never jumped bail for three years of the ongoing case,” she said. “Why would he run for just a 10-day trip that has a return ticket?”

She described the arrest as politically motivated, driven by “dirty emotions” and personal vendettas rather than the rule of law. In her words, “This is a game of politics and dirty emotions. This is tribal war. It has nothing to do with justice. The state must be questioned.”

According to Blessing CEO, IVD is being held without a formal charge or case file, and she claims that the directive to detain him came from a single individual using political influence to “punish” him. “Nobody arrested IVD. One man is using power to bully him. No case file, no statement—just said ‘oga said hold him till Monday, so we go lock am up.’ My question is: for what?” she asked.

She further accused authorities of exploiting the court vacation period to hold IVD indefinitely. “They know the judges are on vacation. That is why they are doing this. How come bloggers know everything that police don’t know? I wonder how much that woman paid you, oga,” she wrote, suggesting a vendetta orchestrated by an unnamed woman connected to the case.

Blessing CEO concluded her statement with an emotional plea to Lagos State authorities to intervene before the situation escalates further. “Stop bullying IVD because he is a man. Just because you could not take his life, you are doing everything to intimidate him. This is injustice. They have bullied him for over three years.”

As of the time of filing this report, the Lagos State Police Command and the Directorate of Public Prosecutions have not issued any public response to the arrest or to the serious allegations raised by Blessing CEO.

IVD has been at the center of public controversy since the death of his wife, Bimbo Ogbonna, in 2022, which sparked nationwide debate around domestic violence, accountability, and the abuse of power. His latest arrest, just ahead of his planned wedding, has once again drawn public attention to the lingering legal and emotional fallout of the tragic case.
