Benue Governor Dissolves Executive Council, Retains Only Chief of Staff

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has dissolved the state executive council, relieving all commissioners of their duties while retaining only the Chief of Staff position.

The role will now be occupied by Barr. Moses Atagher, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, as well as a former acting Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank. His appointment as Chief of Staff takes immediate effect, following the conclusion of the state’s 12th executive council meeting of 2025.

According to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Terso Kula, the dissolution applies solely to commissioners.

Governor Alia thanked the outgoing commissioners for their two years of service and encouraged those not reappointed to remain committed to the party and continue supporting his administration.

Speaking on behalf of the affected officials, Barr. Bemsen Mnyim expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve, describing the experience as valuable and enlightening.

The former commissioners have been instructed to hand over to the permanent secretaries in their respective ministries.
