Bashir El-Rufai Says Some People Must ‘Kpai’ For Nigeria To Become Great

Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has declared that certain individuals may need to die for Nigeria to reach its full potential.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Bashir expressed optimism about the country’s future but insisted that the path to greatness would require the removal—by death—of some elements.

“Nigeria can become great again,” he wrote. “Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on context), a few certain people have to kpai to achieve this dream.”

Bashir and his father have both been vocal critics of President Bola Tinubu’s administration since its inception in May 2023.

Nasir El-Rufai, once a key figure in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), recently renounced his membership in the party and aligned himself with the opposition coalition aiming to remove Tinubu from power. After initial ties to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), he officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the coalition’s political platform.
