Bandits threaten destruction of Shiroro dam – Official

The Regional Manager of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engineer Maiwada Sarki Bello, has raised concerns about bandits threatening the Shiroro dam in Niger state.
He stated this while addressing the press in the TCN Shiroro region of Niger State.
Bello highlighted instances where TCN staff were ambushed while heading to repair the Shiroro Kaduna transmission line, resulting in the tragic loss of three policemen.
Another TCN staff member was abducted and held captive for three months before being freed, he added.
Despite these challenges, Engineer Maiwada Sarki Bello commended the Federal Government for deploying security personnel and local vigilantes to support TCN’s efforts.
He explained that there were ongoing rehabilitation and expansion initiatives aimed at replacing obsolete equipment at Shiroro, Kianji, and other stations.
The Regional Manager also discussed plans for constructing a new 30KV line from Shiroro to Kaduna.
