Babachir Lawal Slams Tinubu Over Nepotism And Claims Yoruba Allies Are Ungrateful

Former SGF Babachir Lawal has reignited his feud with President Bola Tinubu, accusing the administration of nepotism and sidelining non-Yoruba allies who helped secure electoral victory.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Lawal said he has no regrets about staying out of Tinubu’s government, claiming that if he had joined, he might have been sacked, killed, or forced to resign.
Now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Lawal alleged that Tinubu only rewards people from his region and tribe, describing the Yoruba as ungrateful for refusing to acknowledge the contributions of others. He recalled being sidelined in meetings dominated by Yoruba participants and criticised derogatory remarks made about northerners during the campaign period.
Lawal also took aim at Tinubu’s economic policies, including fuel subsidy removal, which he said has plunged Nigerians deeper into poverty, while alleging that subsidies are still quietly being paid despite claims to the contrary.
