Arsenal Complete the Signing of Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP

Arsenal have officially announced the signing of Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP in a high-profile move that signals the club’s serious intent ahead of the new season.

The deal is reportedly worth around £63.7 million, including performance-based add-ons. Gyökeres, 26, has signed a five-year contract and will wear the number 14 jersey, famously worn by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Gyökeres arrives at the Emirates after a sensational season in Portugal, where he scored 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting. His prolific form attracted attention from top European clubs, but Arsenal moved swiftly to secure his services.

This signing brings Arsenal’s total summer spending to over £200 million, joining other key arrivals such as Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Nørgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Gyökeres becomes Arsenal’s first true No. 9 since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and is expected to play a crucial role in the Gunners’ bid to end their 21-year Premier League title drought.

He is set to make his debut in Arsenal’s pre-season clash against Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong.
