Apo Community in Abuja Faces Economic Turmoil as Cost of Living Skyrockets

Residents of the Apo community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Abuja are facing economic crises due to the rapidly rising cost of living.
The locals are concerned about the soaring prices of essential commodities and transportation expenses, which are affecting their livelihoods and pushing them towards financial strain.
Multiple residents and traders, who spoke with Asiwaju Media, expressed their frustration and highlighted their growing concerns with the unprecedented cost surge for necessities like housing, food, and transportation.

Mrs Stella, a market vendor, revealed that the rising food prices have adversely affected her business.
She said customers are purchasing less, forcing her to adjust prices and compromise on profits to keep her business running.
Despite the challenges, Mrs Stella is determined and is actively seeking alternative suppliers with competitive rates to sustain her business.
Similarly, Mr. Chidi, a resident of the Apo community, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) shared his distress and painted a stark picture of the daily struggles faced by families in the area.
He explained that the escalating cost of living had left them with no choice but to tighten their belts.
He said they have had to cut back on expenses, resorting to consuming fewer meals each day just to make ends meet.
Mr Chidi emphasized the impact on food prices and transportation expenses and stressed the need for stringent budgetary measures to cope with the financial strain.
As families adapt to these harsh economic realities, the community is bracing itself for further challenges ahead. With no immediate relief in sight, residents are calling for urgent interventions to address the root causes of the escalating cost of living and alleviate the burden on households struggling to keep up.
