APGA Youths Condemn Assault on Female Corps Member, Urge Restraint by Security Operatives

The youth wing of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has condemned the actions of Agu Ne Eche Mba operatives that led to the assault and stripping of a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Anambra State.
In a statement on Tuesday, the APGA youths described the incident as overzealousness capable of tarnishing the image of Governor Chukwuma Soludo. They warned the operatives to exercise caution and avoid indirectly sabotaging the governor’s efforts to maintain security in the state.
“Agu Ne Eche Mba,” which means “The Tiger that Guards the Town,” was established to protect citizens, not to intimidate or harm them, the statement added, urging operatives to act with decorum and professionalism.
The APGA youths also issued an apology to the victim and commended Governor Soludo for his prompt response, which included the arrest of the erring operatives. They called on residents, particularly youths, to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and supportive of security agencies by exposing suspects rather than shielding them.
The group stressed that nothing justifies the assault, describing it as a violation of human dignity and contrary to the democratic governance in Anambra. They noted that the role of security operatives is to serve the people with fairness, courage, and respect, not to humiliate them.
While condemning the incident, APGA youths encouraged continued support for security operatives, emphasizing that a secure society requires cooperation between the protected and the protectors.
The statement reiterated deep apologies to the young female corps member, stressing that no Nigerian youth, especially those serving the nation, should be subjected to such indignity.
Comr. Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu, National Youth Leader of APGA and Co-Chairman of the Forum of National Youth Leaders of All Political Parties in Nigeria, signed the statement.
