Anambra Lawmaker Bernard Udemezue Suspended For Three Months Over Social Media Post

Bernard Udemezue, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Ayamelum Constituency, has been suspended for three months.
Udemezue, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was suspended over a social media post the House described as “damaging content.” In the post, he alleged that his constituency was being marginalized in the allocation of constituency allowances.
In response, the House initially passed a resolution to summon Udemezue during its plenary last Tuesday, following a matter of urgent public importance raised by Tony Muobike, representing Aguata 2 Constituency, and seconded by Chief Whip Jude Ngobili of Ihiala 1 Constituency.
The Speaker, Somtochukwu Udeze, who presided over the plenary, referred the matter to the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics, and Privileges for investigation and report back to the House.
At today’s plenary, the House approved the committee’s recommendation, formally suspending Udemezue for three months.
