Amadi Faults Pressure on Peter Obi Ahead of 2027 Elections

Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi, has voiced concerns over the mounting pressure on Mr. Peter Obi.
Obi, who was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the last general election, has faced increasing calls to form an alliance with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a post shared on his X handle on Monday, Amadi criticised those who, in his words, merely want Obi to boost their chances at the polls rather than support his own presidential ambition.
He noted that the supporters of the former Anambra State governor remain sharply divided over whether Obi should agree to serve as Atiku’s running mate in 2027.
Amadi wrote:
“The problem with @PeterObi is that some people just want him to help them win elections. If he does not say ‘I will be vice president to Atiku,’ then he is selfish. They abuse him.
But real supporters of Obi want him to be President.
Which side are you on?”
