AEDC Staff Mustapha Isa Dies While Fixing Electrical Fault In Abuja

Mustapha Isa, an employee of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), tragically lost his life on Thursday, May 29, while attempting to fix an electrical fault in the Mabushi area of Abuja.
Isa was reportedly working on top of an electric pole around 5:50 p.m. when he was electrocuted, causing him to fall and sustain a fatal head injury.
Sources said Isa was working from the Mabushi office when the incident occurred. He was rushed to the General Hospital in Gwarinpa but was declared dead on arrival. His body was later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi for an autopsy.
In a statement, AEDC described the incident as “a deeply regrettable tragedy” and extended its condolences to Isa’s family. The company also pledged to enhance safety measures and worker training to prevent similar incidents in the future.
AEDC has previously come under fire for alleged lapses in worker safety, with critics pointing to inadequate equipment and insufficient safety protocols.
