AE-FUNAI Breaks Into Top 25 Nigerian Universities — THE Rankings 2025

The Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), located in Ebonyi State, has earned a prestigious spot among the top 25 universities in Nigeria, according to the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
In its latest release, the globally respected ranking organization placed AE-FUNAI 24th out of 44 Nigerian universities assessed this year. Notably, the university is also listed among the top five institutions in Southeast Nigeria, alongside the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), and Abia State University (ABSU).
Reacting to the announcement, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sunday Elom, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to academic excellence. He praised the university’s academic staff for their outstanding research efforts across various disciplines, which contributed significantly to the institution’s global recognition.
Professor Elom further pledged continued support to the faculties in their pursuit of academic advancement, stating that the university remains focused on its mission to achieve world-class status.
