Adeleke Has Not Defected to APC, Osun Chapter Dismisses Rumors

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly denied claims that Governor Ademola Adeleke has defected to the party, describing the reports as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the APC urged the public to disregard what it called deliberate misinformation allegedly being pushed by Adeleke’s allies.
“We state categorically and unequivocally that it is a lie from the pit of hell being spread by the governor and his lieutenants that he has joined our party. Nothing of such is happening or being contemplated at any level within the APC,” the statement read.
The party also denied speculation that the Presidency was mounting pressure on Adeleke to cross over to the APC.
“At no time has there been any pressure from President Bola Tinubu or any other party leader asking Governor Adeleke to defect,” Olabisi added.
The Osun APC further explained that the idea of Adeleke joining the party remains pure speculation, fueled by excitement among some of his associates who are allegedly eager to push the narrative on social media.
“There are constitutional and procedural requirements that must be met before any defection can happen. It’s laughable to suggest a sitting governor could join our party without the knowledge and involvement of key figures like our national chairman, Mr. Ali Dalori; Chief Bisi Akande; our state leader, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola; and our state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal.”
The party described the rumors as a strategic attempt by Adeleke’s camp to raise his political profile by portraying him as sought-after.
“It is ironic that those who once vilified our party are now trying to position it as a beautiful bride. Their propaganda is aimed at manufacturing a sense of political importance for the governor,” the statement concluded.
