Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold, popularly known as AG Baby, has called out Wema Bank and its digital arm, ALAT, for allegedly hijacking his viral “first-class giveaway” initiative for an advert without his permission.

The singer had recently launched a campaign rewarding Nigerians with first-class degrees by gifting them ₦250,000 each—a gesture that gained widespread praise.

However, Wema Bank appeared to jump on the trend in a promotional message that read:
“AG Baby no send you first class gift? No worries, ALAT’s got you covered. Enjoy up to 70% off your favorite brands this weekend via eVouchers on the ALAT app – it’s no crime to not have a first-class degree.”

Reacting to the ad, Adekunle Gold expressed disappointment and hinted at legal action.
