ADC Suspends Political Activities for Three Days to Mourn Buhari

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a three-day suspension of all political activities in honor of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
In a statement signed by Paul Mumeh, Media Adviser and Chief Press Secretary to the ADC Interim National Chairman, the party declared a national mourning period to reflect on Buhari’s life, legacy, and contributions to Nigeria’s unity, democracy, and development.
Senator David Mark, the party’s interim chairman, described Buhari as a leader of “exceptional character.”
“President Muhammadu Buhari was a statesman of exceptional character. As a soldier, he fought bravely to preserve the unity and territorial integrity of our nation,” Mark stated.
“As a democratically elected President, he contributed significantly to the growth and consolidation of democratic governance in Nigeria. His leadership reflected discipline, commitment, and a deep sense of patriotism.”
Senator Mark also called for lasting tributes to Buhari’s legacy through national monuments or initiatives that embody the values he championed.
The ADC extended its condolences to the Buhari family, the federal government, and all Nigerians mourning the late former president.
