ADC Says Website Crashed Three Times Due to Surge in Membership Registrations

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has revealed that its official website crashed three times last week due to an overwhelming number of Nigerians attempting to register as members online.
The chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Ibrahim Mani, disclosed this on Monday during an interview on Channels TV. According to him, the surge in traffic followed the recent unveiling of ADC as the new political platform for Nigeria’s opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We had to rehost our website three times within the last week because it kept crashing due to the sheer number of people trying to register online,” Mani explained.
The increased attention comes as major opposition figures—including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Senate President David Mark, and ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola—are reportedly aligning with the ADC.
Mani affirmed the party’s readiness to welcome new members from across the political spectrum, provided they have no criminal convictions. “A political party is an all-comers affair. As long as there’s no conviction by a competent court, no one should be excluded,” he said.
He also stressed the ADC’s goal of building a credible and inclusive opposition capable of challenging Nigeria’s dominant political parties. “It’s better to build a party with people who believe in credible opposition than allow Nigeria to drift into a one-party state,” he added.
With growing economic hardship and discontent among citizens, Mani said the surge in interest reflects Nigerians’ desire for meaningful change. He assured that while efforts are ongoing to stabilise the party’s digital infrastructure, offline mobilisation will continue across the country.
