The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State has commenced the sale of nomination forms for the local government elections scheduled for August 2026, fixing the cost at ₦500,000 for chairmanship aspirants and ₦150,000 for councillorship aspirants.

The party disclosed this in a statement issued by its Ebonyi State Secretary and Electoral/INEC Liaison Officer, Bassey E. Imoke.

According to the statement, interested aspirants are required to visit the ADC state secretariat to obtain the forms. Payments are to be made in favour of the African Democratic Congress, with evidence of payment presented at the party secretariat before forms are issued.

Mr Imoke said the sale of forms has officially commenced across party secretariats in the state, calling on eligible and interested members to participate in the process ahead of the August 2026 polls.

“The cost of the chairmanship form is ₦500,000, while the councillorship form goes for ₦150,000,” the statement read.

The announcement makes the ADC one of the earliest political parties in Ebonyi State to publicly declare nomination fees for the forthcoming local government elections.

Nomination fees have remained a contentious issue in Nigeria’s electoral process, with critics arguing that high costs limit participation and shut out young people and grassroots politicians, while political parties often defend the fees as necessary for administrative and campaign expenses.

The ADC, in its statement, urged party members to “arise and shine” as preparations for the polls begin in earnest.
