ADC Constitution Disqualifies Peter Obi from 2027 Presidential Bid

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has ruled out Peter Obi from contesting the 2027 presidency under its platform, citing its constitution, which bars aspirants still affiliated with other parties.
Despite Obi’s ties with the ADC, he remains a member of the Labour Party. Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi, having severed ties with their former parties, are eligible for the ADC ticket.
The party stressed its commitment to internal democracy and will decide its primary format through its National Executive Committee.
“The electoral committee of the party shall conduct primary elections that will produce credible candidates that reflect the choice of the people,” the party noted
In other news….. Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has issued a firm warning to Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stating that he must obtain official security clearance before making any future visits to the state.
This follows Obi’s recent visit to Benin City on July 7, where he donated ₦15 million to St. Philomena Hospital School of Nursing Sciences. Governor Okpebholo linked the visit to a spike in violence, alleging that three people were killed shortly after Obi left the city.
“Peter Obi, the man who says he doesn’t have ‘shishi,’ came here and dropped ₦15 million. Where did that money come from? Not long after he left, three people were killed. Because of this, he must not visit Edo without security clearance,” Okpebholo said.
The governor stressed that Obi’s safety cannot be guaranteed without proper notification to the state government. He described the timing of Obi’s visit as suspicious and made it clear that such unscheduled appearances would no longer be accepted in Edo State.
