ADC Chieftain Slams Dumebi Kachikwu Over Legal Threat, Calls Him a Political Jobber

Dumebi Kachikwu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC)’s 2023 presidential candidate, has come under fire over his recent threat to take legal action against the party and its newly formed opposition coalition.
Reacting to the threat, a prominent ADC chieftain in Kano State, Abdullahi Umar, dismissed Kachikwu’s comments as “laughable,” describing him as a non-stakeholder with no authority to speak on the party’s affairs.
Umar, a former House of Representatives aspirant for Tarauni Federal Constituency, told journalists in Kano on Friday that Kachikwu holds no position within the ADC’s National Working Committee (NWC) or National Executive Committee (NEC), and therefore lacks the legitimacy to represent the party.
“I find it laughable and mind-boggling how a mere inconsequential former presidential candidate would lay claim to being a stakeholder,” he said. “Which stake is Mr. Kachikwu talking about? He neither belongs to the NWC nor the NEC.”
He accused Kachikwu of being an opportunist who never truly embraced the party’s mission, alleging that he failed to conduct any serious nationwide campaign or consultation during the 2023 election.
“He was simply a pretender, not a partyman,” Umar said. “He has no real political relevance and is only trying to cause disruption on behalf of external forces.”
Umar went further to describe Kachikwu as “a political jobber without electoral value,” recalling that he had constant friction with the ADC leadership throughout the last election cycle.
“He’s not one of us,” Umar stressed. “Trying to lay claim to the ADC is like trying to lay a mat on land you don’t own.”
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to building a formidable opposition, Umar insisted that the ADC is now a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The APC is clearly jittery. Nigerians now see the ADC as a viable platform to challenge the status quo and rescue the country from a government that has brought so much suffering,” he said.
Umar warned that Kachikwu’s attempts to sow discord within the party would be firmly resisted, adding that the ADC would not be distracted like the Labour Party or the Peoples Democratic Party.
“If Mr. Kachikwu thinks he can serve as a stooge or mole for the APC, he’s mistaken. The ADC is here to stay as the face of real and purposeful opposition,” he declared.
He called on Nigerians to remain alert and reject what he described as “political jobbers” who seek to derail the country’s democratic future.
“We must stand against those who align with the oppressors and try to hijack political platforms for selfish gain. The ADC is committed to delivering the Nigeria of our dreams,” Umar concluded.
