Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe Hospitalized After On-Set Injury Involving Zubby Michael

Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe has been hospitalized after sustaining a serious injury during a movie shoot that involved popular actor Zubby Michael.
According to Nnadiekwe, the incident occurred when he received a sudden and forceful kick to the chest — a move that, he emphasized, was not part of the script or approved by the director.
Taking to Instagram, the actor recounted the unsettling experience, clarifying that his intention was not to publicly shame his colleague but to highlight a broader concern: the lack of safety protocols on Nigerian film sets.
“Just wanted to share an incident that happened on set a few days ago,” Nnadiekwe wrote. “This isn’t to call anyone out, but it’s a serious reminder that we need to prioritize each other’s safety on set. During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director.”
He added that the impact left him in significant pain, prompting him to seek medical attention on his own, without any assistance. He also called attention to the absence of health insurance and first aid on many Nollywood sets.
“When we’re working without insurance policies or readily available first aid, unexpected physical actions like this, even if accidental, can have real consequences. Let us all commit to sticking to the script and ensuring everyone feels safe and respected,” he said.
“What if something more serious had happened? Every action on set, especially physical ones, must be intentional and in line with the director’s vision.”
Management Confirms Internal Bleeding, Assures Fans
In a follow-up statement, Nnadiekwe’s management confirmed the actor is currently receiving medical treatment for internal bleeding caused by the impact.
“We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening. He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick to the chest during filming with his colleague, Zubby Michael.”
The statement continued:
“We are committed to providing the best possible care and will ensure timely updates are shared with the public and the AGN board. We appreciate your concern and well wishes for Godwin at this time. Please keep him in your thoughts.”
