Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe Calls for Film Set Safety Overhaul

Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe has called for a fundamental overhaul of safety practices in the Nigerian film industry, weeks after recovering from an on-set accident involving fellow actor Zubby Michael.
“My advocacy is for a fundamental shift in how we approach film set safety,” Nnadiekwe declared in a recent Instagram post. “We must protect our cast and crew by insisting on more stringent safety measures, guaranteeing comprehensive insurance policies, and ensuring on-site first aid is always at hand. For any scene involving physical action, intentionality, thorough rehearsal, and meticulous supervision are non-negotiable to avert accidents and casualties.”

The actor’s comments come after an incident during the filming of an action sequence, which led to his hospitalization and prompted widespread concern among colleagues and fans.
ASIWAJU MEDIA reported that Nnadiekwe’s management (Godwin Nnadiekwe) confirmed he received prompt medical attention and was in stable condition after the incident. In subsequent updates, the actor shared that he had made a full recovery and took time to thank his colleagues, fans, and industry stakeholders for their concern, solidarity, and encouragement throughout his recovery process.
The incident has intensified calls within Nollywood for better regulations, robust insurance coverage, and stricter enforcement of safety protocols during productions.
