751 Apprehended for Cybercrime in 2024 – NPF PRO

The Nigerian Police Force, through its Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi has announced that 751 suspects were arrested for cybercrime related offences in the year 2024. This was made known while presenting the year’s scorecard.
According to him, 508 cases were investigated, leading to 14 convictions. The police recovered $840,000 for victims and froze ₦914 million and over $115,000 in various bank accounts and cryptocurrency wallets.
The report also included the seizure of 26 vehicles, 16 houses, and 39 plots of land linked to the suspects. Additionally, 685 device, which include 467 mobile phones, 137 laptops and computers, 46 routers, 4 servers, 1 drone, and 4 Starlink devices were confiscated as well.
Adejobi assured the public that the Nigerian Police remains resolute in bringing offenders to book and justice is served.
“The Nigeria Police remains committed towards combating cyber threats, staying steps ahead of cybercriminals, thereby enhancing the nation’s overall cybersecurity framework and protecting the welfare of its citizens in the digital era.”
“Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution when sharing sensitive data or interacting with unfamiliar online entities, cultivating a culture of cyber awareness and promoting responsible online behavior,” he concluded.
