The Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), Dr. Kassim Muhammad Kassim, temporarily stepped down from his position on Thursday to allow 4-year-old Beneth Joseph Kigbu serve as the One-Day Executive Chairman of the Board.
During the handover ceremony, Dr. Kassim emphasized the importance of empowering young people, stating that Nigeria’s future lies in the hands of its youth. He added that access to quality basic education is the foundation of national progress and expressed hope that young Kigbu would one day lead a major government agency.
Dr. Kassim described the honorary appointment as a powerful symbol of what the young boy might achieve in the future, calling it a reflection of the board’s commitment to nurturing potential from an early age.
In his brief address as One-Day Chairman, Kigbu praised Dr. Kassim’s leadership and the initiatives introduced under his tenure within just three months. He also called for greater attention to students learning in difficult environments and urged continued investment in teacher development through regular training and retraining programs.
