2Baba Reacts to Benue Massacre, Urges Government to End the Killings

Nigerian music icon and Benue State native, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has spoken out over the recent massacre in his home state, expressing deep sorrow and frustration over the continued bloodshed.
In a public statement and through his social media platforms, the award-winning singer described the killings as “worrisome” and called on the Federal Government and security agencies to take urgent and decisive action to restore peace and protect lives in Benue.
“The killings in my state, Benue, are becoming too worrisome,” 2Baba said, visibly emotional. “We cannot continue like this. Innocent lives are being lost, families are being destroyed, and communities are living in fear. Something must be done, and it must be done now.”
The musician, who has always been vocal about insecurity in Nigeria, reminded authorities of their duty to protect citizens, urging leaders to put politics aside and prioritize the lives of the people.
2Baba also emphasized the impact of insecurity on the youth, warning that the continued violence could push more young people into hopelessness and crime due to displacement and economic hardship.
“No investor will come to a place that is not safe. Young people will remain jobless, frustrated, and angry. It’s time for the government to rise to the occasion,” he added.
This is not the first time 2Baba has spoken up for his people. In 2018, he paused his performance at the Soundcity MVP Awards to condemn the killings in Benue and call for justice.
His recent comments come in the wake of the tragic attacks in Yelwata and Daudu communities in Guma LGA, where over 100 lives were reportedly lost, sparking widespread outrage and protests across the state.
