14,000 Apply for 1,000 Teacher Jobs in Ebonyi State: What’s Next?

The Ebonyi State Government has come under criticism over its recent teacher recruitment process in Teacher Jobs in Ebonyi State, which has sparked concerns about transparency and fairness.
According to Nwoba Chika Nwoba, a social media influencer, the state government announced the recruitment of 1,000 teachers, but an overwhelming 14,000 applicants, all graduates of education disciplines from Ebonyi State, sat for the screening test.
Nwoba expressed worry that only 1,000 will be selected, leaving 13,000 without employment, estimating that there may be up to 400,000 idle graduates in the state.
Furthermore, Nwoba alleged that the selection process for Teacher Jobs in Ebonyi State may be compromised by favoritism and monetization, with those having connections with government officials likely to be chosen.
The critic also questioned the state government’s priorities, citing the alleged lavish spending of N2.1 billion on foreign trips and other projects, while neglecting the plight of unemployed graduates.
The Ebonyi State Government has faced previous criticism for handling projects, including converting the state airport into a worship center.

Ebonyi State Government announced recruitment of 1000 (one thousand) teachers into the state’s school system. Application was limited to graduates of education discipline. Applications started trickling in and the number that sat for the screening test was 14,000. They’re all from Ebonyi, as small as the state is. These 14,000 shortlist came from graduates of education background only.
This means that after selection of the needed 1,000, the remaining 13,000 will go back into joblessness. This is to mean that there may be up to 400,000 idle graduates from Ebonyi State. My appeal is that Ebonyi State Government should find a way to employ these 14k applicants if they all pass the test of proficiency. But unfortunately, those to be selected are those who have contacts with the people in government. I can’t rule out the possibility of monetization of the exercise. Pay certain amount of money and stand to be selected. And even payment won’t guarantee compliance.
There’s money in Ebonyi State Government, currently. The current administration has times ten of what its predecessors had. If a governor within a space of one year and five months could spend N2.1 billion on abroad trips that have yielded no positive result so far, with his filling station construction work going on fine and proposed hotel at Katampe in Abuja, and others I’ll take my time and enumerate, it means that there’s serious influx of money into the coffers of the government.
This government of Nwifuru has a reputation for motion without movement. The airport that he sank in extra N22 billion after Umahi claimed sinking in N40 billion into it has been converted into a worship centre. They claim resuming flight operations at the airport, but it’s false. Flight operations can’t be running and church service be going on inside the ticketing hall on Sundays and other days concurrently. What they did was to get a plane somewhere and feign resuming flight activities just because there would be influx of people and attention into, and on the state due to the burial of Dr Ogbonnaya Onu. I dare anyone to go book flight there now or tomorrow and see if the government isn’t lying.
There’s serious trouble in Ebonyi and how it’s run. This time around is worse.
