A Lagos-based group of entrepreneurs under the umbrella of the Ebonyi businessmen forum has endorsed Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for a second term in office and declared support for Christian Asaga Nwali as senator representing Ebonyi Central in 2027.

The group announced its position after its quarterly meeting in Lagos, where members unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the governor’s administration, citing what they described as significant achievements in security, infrastructure, education and human capital development.

In a statement signed by its president, Jeremiah Obaji Nworu, the association commended Governor Nwifuru for prioritising peace and stability in the state, noting that development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of insecurity.

Mr Nworu referenced his recent trek from Lagos to Abakaliki, which he said was undertaken to appreciate the governor’s efforts in restoring peace to previously troubled communities.

He said unlike previous administrations that allegedly tolerated communal clashes, the current government has focused on conflict resolution while deploying state resources to infrastructure development.

“It is on record that no other governor in the region has achieved as much within a single tenure,” the statement said, pointing to improvements in critical sectors across the state.

The group also expressed appreciation to Mr Nwali for accepting to contest for the Ebonyi Central senatorial seat, describing him as an accomplished businessman with the educational background and experience required for legislative duties.

The association urged Ebonyi voters to prioritise competence and capacity in electing representatives, stressing that lawmaking requires individuals with the requisite knowledge, exposure and discipline.

It called on residents of the state to support both Mr Nwifuru and Mr Nwali, whom it described as capable of advancing Ebonyi’s development.

The forum comprises young businessmen of Ebonyi origin resident in Lagos and is led by Mr Nworu, a political scientist.
