The Oyo state Governor, Gov. Seyi Makinde, has presented the staff of office to Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo in a low key ceremony.
Recall that Asiwaju media reported the appointment of Prince Owoade on Friday when up to five kingmakers stood against.
However despite this controversy, Gov Makinde made the presentation of the staff of office in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo state, ignoring the displeasure of the kingmakers.
According to a Palace source, “Prince Owoade has been in Ibadan since yesterday. We anticipate he will be presented the certificate of office today, Insha Allah.”
“Though we never expected it will be urgent like this, I think it’s done in preparation for the official coronation,” he explained.
