City Boy Movement to be inaugurated in Ebonyi

Plans have reached an advanced stage for the formal inauguration of the City Boy Movement in Ebonyi State, as the sociopolitical group expands its presence across the Southeast.
The movement, championed by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is described by its promoters as a coalition of business moguls, socialites, professionals and influential stakeholders united by a shared vision of political engagement and youth development.
According to organisers, the group is strategically positioned to mobilise grassroots support for President Tinubu’s re-election while simultaneously driving empowerment initiatives aimed at fostering economic self-reliance among young people, particularly in the Southeast region.
The movement’s leadership maintains that beyond political mobilisation, it seeks to serve as a platform for mentorship, networking and sustainable development initiatives that can positively impact communities.
The City Boy Movement was recently inaugurated at the national level in Abuja, where its leadership structure was formally unveiled. At that event, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, was announced as the Southeast Zonal Director.
His appointment is seen by observers as a strategic move, given his strong influence within business and social circles across the region. Though, he was bashed on Media by Netizens who saw his involvement in the movement as a sabotage on Mr Peter Obi’s presidential ambition. Nonetheless, he has remained unshaken by the online mob.
The group operates a well-defined organisational structure, with leadership organs spanning the national, zonal, state, local government and ward levels. This layered framework, insiders say, is designed to ensure effective coordination, grassroots penetration and sustained engagement across communities.
In Ebonyi State, preparations are underway for the state chapter’s inauguration scheduled for Thursday, March 5, 2026. The State Coordinator, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogba Onah, who also serves as the Deputy Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, disclosed that comprehensive arrangements have been concluded to guarantee a smooth and successful ceremony. He noted that the event will also serve as an opportunity to officially receive and host members of the Southeast National Executive Committee of the movement.
Speaking on the objectives of the group, Onah emphasised that one of its cardinal goals is to strengthen presidential voting support for President Tinubu in the Southeast, thereby reshaping the region’s political dynamics. He added that youth empowerment remains central to the movement’s mission, stressing that programmes will focus on entrepreneurship support, capacity building and other initiatives capable of equipping young people with practical skills for self-reliance.
The inauguration ceremony will take place at Practising School, Izhiangbo, and is expected to draw a large and diverse audience, including political stakeholders, community leaders, youths and supporters from across the state. Organisers describe the forthcoming event as one that promises to be massive, engaging and memorable.
Sources within the movement further disclosed that the Director-General of the Ebonyi State chapter is Chief Chukwuemeka Ituma, the Chief Executive Officer of Enviable Transport, who hails from Izhiangbo. He is widely recognised in the state for sponsoring a ₦100 million football tournament in 2025, an initiative that reportedly provided opportunities for grassroots sports development and youth engagement. The decision to hold the inauguration in his hometown is viewed as a mark of honour and appreciation for his contributions to community development and the movement’s growth in the state.
Prior to the main inauguration ceremony, the Southeast Zonal Leadership of the City Boy Movement, led by Obi Cubana, is scheduled to embark on a courtesy visit to the office of the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru. The visit is expected to reinforce collaboration between the movement and the state government, while also formally notifying the governor of the group’s activities and objectives within the state.
Following the courtesy call, the delegation will proceed to Izhiangbo for the official unveiling of the Ebonyi State leadership structure. The event will feature the formal presentation of state, local government and ward coordinators, as well as goodwill messages from stakeholders and supporters.
Meanwhile, the Ohaukwu Local Government Area Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Prince Ikechukwu Odono, who also serves as the Executive Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Council, has assured residents and guests of adequate security arrangements throughout the programme. He called on youths across Ebonyi State, particularly those from Ohaukwu Local Government Area, to turn out en masse to welcome the visiting national and zonal leaders, as well as to celebrate their illustrious son, Chief Chukwuemeka Ituma.
As anticipation builds ahead of the inauguration, stakeholders within the City Boy Movement say the Ebonyi event represents another significant step in the group’s regional expansion and consolidation efforts. They express optimism that the movement will not only deepen political engagement in the Southeast but also create tangible opportunities for youth empowerment and socio-economic development across the state.
