A legal practitioner and politician, Joshua Itumo, has declared his intention to contest for the Abakaliki South Constituency seat in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, promising a people-oriented approach to governance.

Speaking during his declaration, Itumo said his decision was driven by a desire to address the pressing challenges facing the constituency, including youth unemployment, struggling businesses, poor infrastructure, and inadequate access to basic amenities.

He noted that leadership must go beyond campaign promises to deliver practical results that improve the living conditions of the people.

“My people deserve better, and I am committed to offering representation that delivers real impact,” he said.

The aspirant outlined key areas of focus, including youth empowerment through skills development and job opportunities, support for small and medium-scale enterprises, and improved access to finance through cooperative systems.

He also emphasized the need for infrastructure development, particularly in road rehabilitation, water supply, and rural electrification, to enhance economic activities and quality of life in the constituency.

On agriculture, Itumo pledged to support farmers with modern tools, training, and better market access, as well as introduce storage and processing solutions to reduce post-harvest losses.

He further promised to maintain close engagement with constituents through regular consultations and transparent reporting of projects and government allocations.

Itumo commended the efforts of the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, stating that his administration has provided a solid foundation for development in the state.

He added that his representation would complement the governor’s vision by ensuring that Abakaliki South Constituency benefits fully from government programs and policies.

The declaration marks the beginning of political activities ahead of the next state assembly elections, with Itumo positioning himself as a candidate focused on inclusive growth and grassroots development.
