
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to Nigeria’s foreign missions across the world, comprising both career and non-career diplomats.
The list includes 31 non-career appointees and 34 career ambassadors who will represent Nigeria in strategic countries and international organisations.
Among the prominent non-career appointments, former presidential aide Reno Omokri was posted to Mexico City, while former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode was assigned to Germany. Former Minister of Health Isaac Folorunso Adewole will serve in Canada, and businessman and senator Jimoh Ibrahim was appointed Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Others include former Interior Minister Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau to China, ex-Chief of Naval Staff Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas to the Philippines, and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State Olufemi Pedro to Australia.
Also on the list are Senator Ita Enang to South Africa, Senator Grace Bent to Togo, and former Abia State governor Okezie Ikpeazu to Spain.
In addition, the President approved the deployment of several career diplomats to key missions. These include Ambassador Mohammed Mahmud Lele to Algeria, Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Egypt, Ambassador Shehu Ilu Barde to Ghana, and Ambassador Muhammad Saidu Dahiru to India.
Other career ambassadors were posted to countries such as Belgium, Switzerland, Iran, Thailand, Morocco, Kenya, Senegal, Tanzania and the Netherlands, among others.
The new appointments are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic presence and advance the country’s foreign policy objectives across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.
The postings take effect after the completion of necessary diplomatic and administrative procedures.
