The Lagos State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, has advised Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) of the 2026 Batch A, Stream II to strictly adhere to the scheme’s rules and regulations throughout their service year.

Addressing the corps members at the orientation camp, Mrs. Salmwang emphasized discipline, obedience, and active participation as key ingredients for a successful service year.

She warned that violations of NYSC bye-laws could attract sanctions and negatively affect their overall service experience.

The briefing began with the recitation of the NYSC Anthem, after which the coordinator outlined the expectations and operational guidelines of the scheme.

Adopting what she described as a “motherly approach,” Mrs. Salmwang encouraged the PCMs to remain attentive and open to guidance, assuring them of her support throughout the orientation course.

She also educated the corps members on the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC: the Orientation Course, the Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), the Winding-Up Exercise, and the Passing-Out Parade (POP), where successful participants are awarded certificates.

Mrs. Salmwang issued a strong warning against acts such as cultism, drug abuse, theft, and the spread of negative content about the scheme on social media, stressing that the NYSC maintains a zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline. She further urged corps members to remain security conscious and promptly report any suspicious activities.

According to her, any corps member found guilty of misconduct would be referred to the camp court and disciplined in accordance with NYSC regulations.

She assured the PCMs of a smooth and rewarding service year, provided they remain law-abiding and committed to the ideals of the scheme. She also encouraged them to approach camp officials with any concerns or challenges they may encounter.

The briefing concluded with the recitation of the National Anthem by the prospective corps members.
