Ohaukwu 2027: Rising Momentum as Agbalagba enjoys massive support for Rep

The political landscape in Ohaukwu Local Government Area is heating up ahead of the 2027 general elections, with fresh alignments and growing momentum reshaping the race for the Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency seat.

Long regarded as one of the most politically vibrant regions in Ebonyi State—having once held the reins of power between 1999 and 2007—Ohaukwu is once again at the center of strategic political calculations.

While the incumbent lawmaker, Hon Eze Nwachukwu, eyes a return, and Barr Toochukwu Ogalagu gathers his own support base, a powerful grassroots wave is building around a new consensus figure: Chief Sunday Elechi Inyima—fondly called Agbalagba and widely respected as the “Senior Prefect” of Ohaukwu politics.

Come Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Ohaukwu will witness what many are already calling a defining political moment and clear demonstration of genuine support for Chief Sunday Elechi Inyima, among others.

Party faithful, youths, women, and student groups across all 15 wards are expected to pour into the streets in a massive show of solidarity—urging Agbalagba to step forward and contest for the House of Representatives.

The event will also serve as a platform to reaffirm continued support and continuity in the office for key APC leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Chinedu Ogba Onah, and Hon Esther Agwu.

Currently serving as Commissioner for Capital City Development, Chief Inyima’s political résumé spans decades of service—from Local Government Chairman to key commissioner roles in Lands, Survey, Water Resources and capital city development.

Beyond titles, his influence runs deeper. Known for mentoring young leaders and maintaining unwavering party loyalty—even stepping aside in past primaries—Agbalagba has built a reputation for discipline, patience, and statesmanship in an era where such traits are increasingly rare. It’s rare to see a career politician like Agbalagba yield to the party’s directive, without rancor or roughening shoulders. While others jump ship, Chief Agbalagba always remain his party despite not realising his political interest.

At the heart of the growing support lies a strong call for fairness and inclusion. With the Ngbo bloc currently occupying key positions—including the House of Assembly and the federal seat—many stakeholders are advocating a power shift to Izhiangbo to preserve balance and unity.

Political observers argue that allowing Izhiangbo produce the next House of Representatives member, while Ngbo retains the State Assembly seat held by Rt. Hon. Onah, would strengthen cohesion and prevent marginalization—values seen as essential to democratic progress.

As APC primaries approach in April–May 2026, expectations are mounting that Chief Inyima could emerge as the party’s flagbearer. For many constituents, his candidacy represents more than just another political bid—it symbolizes experience, loyalty, and a promise of quality representation. Chief Sunday Elechi Inyima is expected to answer the call by his admirers and supporters to throw in a towel in the ring and occupy the House of Rep to bring dividends of democracy to his people.

Agbalagba has played local and state politics, it’s high time he move to the centre and showcase his political potential and contribute his quota to advancing governance, legislation and national cohesion.

In Ohaukwu, the message is getting louder: the people are ready—and Agbalagba may be the man of the moment. Let’s keep fingers crossed as we watch the unfolding political developments and dynamics.
