You lose Opportunities, When You Are Addicted To Drugs -NYSC Official

Head of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on camp, and Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics of the agency, Samuel, A. A, has charged corps members at the NYSC camp in Iyana-Ipaja, to eschew intake of hard drugs, stating that addiction can lead to loss of opportunities.
According to the Drug Control officer, the introduction of drugs into the body causes untold damage to the brain and the nervous system which may prevent a young person from achieving his goals. He said, “you have spent years in the University, your future is colourful you should not do anything to jeopardize it.”

While Speaking on few of the categories of drugs an individual may be exposed to, he said some are inhalants, some depressant. adding that depressant drugs slow down the activities of the body eg Rophypnol also known as “Baba Blue” or “Delete” if taken in high doses can cause unconsciousness, amnesia, muscle issues etc.
According to him, cannabis sativa contains about 420 chemicals which can be harmful to the body.
Reacting to questions, about how these harmful drugs are getting into the hands of people, he stated that some of the producers of these drugs are not backed by the law but sets up laboratories in the forests where they produce these substances even with greater milligrams than the recommended ones which ends up in the hands of street dealers.
He warned the female corps members to be mindful of where they go, who they eat or drink from or what they take.
