Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has declared his support for Ushie Rita Uguamaye, also known as Raye, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who has faced intense criticism following her viral video condemning President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In a video shared on X on Monday, Sowore revealed that he had met with Uguamaye in Lagos and would be accompanying her to the NYSC Local Government Inspector’s office alongside a legal team.
“The journey with youth Corper, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, has commenced in Lagos,” Sowore captioned the video. “She is scheduled to appear before the LGI (Local Government Inspector) Monday and we will escort her to their offices. We are all en route with attorneys”.
Uguamaye’s video, which sparked widespread debate, has drawn both support and criticism.
While some praised her boldness in speaking out against government policies, others accused her of overstepping boundaries as a corps member.
Meanwhile, for days now, #NYSC has been trending on X, Nigerian youths are using the hashtag to draw the government’s attention to the plights of Nigerians.
