PSC, Police to Begin Physical, Credential Screening for 50,000 Constable Recruits

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced the commencement of physical and credential screening for applicants seeking recruitment into the police as constables.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the commission, the nationwide screening exercise will run from March 9 to April 18, 2026, across designated centres in all states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

The PSC said the exercise is part of the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables and applies to candidates who successfully completed the online registration process.

Applicants are required to log in to the recruitment portal, npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, to verify their application status and print relevant documents, including their invitation slip, application submission slip, guarantors’ form, credentials screening form and physical screening form.

The commission stated that candidates must present their invitation slip—showing their assigned table—alongside original copies of key credentials such as their National Identity Number (NIN) printout or card issued by the National Identity Management Commission, O’Level certificate, birth certificate or declaration of age, and local government or state of origin certificate. Specialists are also expected to present relevant trade test certificates where applicable.

It added that all credentials, both original and photocopies, should be neatly arranged in two separate white flat files, with recent passport photographs attached.

Candidates are also expected to appear at the screening venues dressed in white canvas shoes, white T-shirts, white shorts and white stockings, the commission said.

The Chairman of the PSC, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, reiterated that the recruitment exercise is free of charge and does not involve any form of payment.

He assured applicants that the process would be conducted transparently and in line with best practices, while warning them to beware of scammers and impostors seeking to exploit the exercise.

“Anyone found attempting to compromise the process or defraud applicants will be arrested and prosecuted,” Mr Argungu said.

The PSC noted that the screening will take place at designated venues in each state and the FCT, as indicated on candidates’ invitation slips.

The statement was signed by the commission’s spokesman, Torty Njoku Kalu, and issued from the PSC headquarters in Abuja on February 24, 2026.
