The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said that Nigeria would be in a far worse state if not for the prayers of believers across the country.

Speaking during the RCCG’s monthly Thanksgiving service on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the church headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Pastor Adeboye emphasized the power of prayer in holding back deeper national crises.

“Some people say, ‘You’ve been praying and fasting – where is the result?’ I just laugh,” he said. “If we had not been praying, Nigeria would have completely collapsed. Things could be far worse than they are today. Let’s not stop.”

He stressed that divine intervention still governs the affairs of nations and warned of the consequences if intercessory prayers ceased even briefly.

“There is a God who rules in the affairs of men. If those praying stopped for just one week, the result would be terrifying. Keep praying. God is the One who turns the hearts of kings,” he added.

Preaching a sermon titled “Shadow of the Almighty,” the revered cleric also shared testimonies of divine protection over RCCG buildings around the world. He cited examples such as a flood in the United States and a fire incident at Otedola Bridge in Lagos where church properties were miraculously spared.

“Your safety is in God,” he told the congregation. “His protection may not always be visible, but it is real. Whether in times of peace or crisis, the Almighty covers His own.”
