Portable and VeryDarkMan Clash Over President Tinubu’s Leadership

A heated war of words has erupted between controversial singer Portable and social commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM), following the latter’s public message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the current state of Nigeria’s economy.
VDM had voiced his frustrations about the economic hardship and rising insecurity in the country, warning that Tinubu risks being remembered like the late President Buhari if urgent action isn’t taken. In response, Portable jumped to Tinubu’s defence with a fiery statement.
“VeryDarkMan, it won’t be well with you,” Portable said. “Before, you used to drink sachet water, but since Tinubu came in, you’re now drinking bottled water. That shows he is working as a president.”
The comment sparked an angry reaction from VDM, who fired back with a scathing response. Referring to a viral 2020 video where Portable was allegedly caught trying to steal a tricycle (keke), VDM mocked the singer’s past:
“Portable, go and look at your video in 2020 when you went to steal keke and were beaten badly. You’re insulting me, someone who already bought a car and a keke since 2020. And now you’re claiming I only got that during Tinubu’s regime?”
He continued, accusing Portable of being paid by politicians to make noise in their favour.
“I don’t blame you. Someone who once tried to steal a keke can easily be used by politicians to defend rubbish. I didn’t insult President Tinubu. I spoke out of pain, because Nigerians are suffering—especially with insecurity.”
Challenging Portable further, VDM questioned how much he had allegedly received from political figures.
“How much did they give you? Go and ask them how much they offered me to be on their side. The government doesn’t rate Nigerians—that’s why they picked someone like you to speak for them.”
Ending on a combative note, VDM added:
“You, Portable, had the audacity to say I’m doing too much? If we ever meet one-on-one without security, I’ll use your face to clean the ground.”
The bitter exchange has since gone viral, stirring mixed reactions on social media, with fans and followers taking sides in the escalating feud.
